The Drafter by Kim Harrison

The Drafter by Kim Harrison
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Enjoyable storyline with well developed characters and great pacing throughout. Very little boredom to be had - just an insatiable desire to know what was coming next. The set up is great for the next book which I look forward to reading.

Peri's character is instantly likeable, showing loyalty, attitude, and a strong sense of self that keep the book moving through the relevant periods of mistrust and confusion. Adding to the drama are the well written, if occasionally shallow male "anchors" in Peri's life. Answering the age old question - does love die with death, or with loss of memory.

The plot itself is twisting and complex, Peri's own re-writeability making her perspective incomplete and downright confusing at times. But the major points of intrigue come from the various snippets from the other characters, alluding to a vast conspiracy, the complexities of which the novel only hints at.

Continuation - There's a lot to go at here, from the rather open ending of the book, to the introduction of a major character, and the ever growing mystery behind the plotline. I imagine the sequels are going to be well worth the read.
